'The Birthday Card'

'The Birthday Card'

Can be a Scout or an Adult dressed as Scout who walks on,

takes birthday Card from envelope and reads:-

My Mothers away you know, holiday places.

Making new friends, meeting new faces.

Before departing she said 'Now you listen hard.'

'Remember your Aunty and her birthday card!'

But after she'd gone, I thought dear oh dear!

I'm bound to forget as the day draws near.

A brainwave I had then to write a short rhyme

explaining just why I would send before time.

'My memories bad' I thought I'd explain

'If I dont do it now, I'll forget it again!'

I decided to start right away on that deed -

(pausing a moment to have a good feed)

And guess what?..... I forgot!

So now it's too late to write a short rhyme

explaining just why I would send before time

so I'm writing this long rhyme instead, to make sure

You have a very happy birthday and many, many more!

Starts to walk off as he puts birthday Card back in envelope.

He looks at watch and says :-

"Oh No! I've missed the Post now!"

Turns and walks back the way he came.
